PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Government Polytechnic College, Mattanur, belongs to Mattanur Municipality, which is situated in the eastern part of Kannur district. This college has been in the forefront of technical education for the past two decades, providing superior quality technical education with skill oriented training to the youth of North-East Malabar region to meet the present and future industrial requirements. The history of the college extend back to 1964 when it started functioning as Technical High School. From its humble beginning, it was upgraded as Polytechnic College in 1994 and VHSC was shifted to Govt. High School, Edayannur.

The institution has been imparting invaluable gift of quality education in the five courses- Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering. It is a blessing to students from many remote areas who at present are occupying key positions in society. The college has a vital role in uplifting students from many tribal areas in the eastern region of Kannur district like Aralam, Kannavam, Kelakam, Kottiyoor, Peruva, Nedumpoyil, Kannanthode, Narimata, etc. In Irrity taluk this institution is the only one diploma level technical institution which is working under the directorate of technical education Kerala. Our institution is under the vicinity of the various industrial establishments like Kannur International Airport, Industrial estates at Valiyavelicham, Kinfra Park at Chungath and Mattanur, Rubco, etc. These industrial establishments are highly supporting our graduates for their training and employment.
