From its humble beginning, it was upgraded as Polytechnic College in 1994 and VHSC was shifted to Govt. High School, Edayannur.
The institution has been imparting invaluable gift of quality education in the five courses- Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering. It is a blessing to students from many remote areas who at present are occupying key positions in society. The college has a vital role in uplifting students from many tribal areas in the eastern region of Kannur district like Aralam, Kannavam, Kelakam, Kottiyoor, Peruva, Nedumpoyil, Kannanthode, Narimata, etc. In Irrity taluk this institution is theonly one diploma level technical institution which is working under the directorate of technical education Kerala. Our institution is under the vicinity of the various industrial establishments like Kannur International Airport, Industrial estates at Valiyavelicham, Kinfra Park at Chungath and Mattanur, Rubco, etc. These industrial establishments are highly supporting our graduates for their training and employment.
Mechanical Engineering Department was started in the year 1994. The department offers three years diploma in mechanical Engineering. This Program imparts students with skills required for manufacturing industry along with regular teaching learning process, students also get exposure through industrial visits, expert lectures, workshops, participation in various competitions and exhibitions. Career counselling and personality grooming sessions are organized for students on regular basis Apart from the curriculum.
The Department of Electronics Engineering started functioning in the campus along with its inception in the year 1994. The department aims to bring forth qualitative engineers with profound technical knowledge in the field of Electronics and related other disciplines. The functioning has been with an annual intake of 60 students for the Diploma Programme. The Department makes sure of offering practical and technical knowledge through well- equipped laboratory system with maximum technical facilities.
Instrumentation Engineering mainly concentrate on the application of electronic and mechanical instruments in an industry for measurement and control of various parameters. In today’s modern world, the top target of every plant management or plant ownership is to achieve the safest and maximum production out of their equipment, machinery and devices. In order to reach that target, one of the major steps it follows is to install good instrumentation in the plant.
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering started functioning in the campus along with its inception in the year 2021. The department aims to create a passion for learning and promote innovation Electrical and Electronics and related other disciplines. The Department makes sure of prepare an effective and socially responsible Electrical and Electronics Engineer to serve the future needs and challenges of the society. The annual intake for the Electrical and Electronics department is 30 students for the Diploma Programme.
Civil engineering department started to function in the year 2021 with a current sanctioned admission for 30 students per year. This department has played a vital role by molding the students to excel in related careers in both the government sectors and private industries.Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including public works such as roads, bridges, canals, dams, airports, sewerage systems, pipelines, structural components of buildings, and railways.
